Our joint wrap is made of 10MIL Cross Laminated High Density Polyethylene and is the strongest protection available against punctures and tears where they are most likely to happen due to sharp metals from sheared bolt heads on mechanical joints. The material is two and a half times thicker than the 4MIL Cross Laminated HDPE used for ductile iron pipe. It exceeds all the minimum requirements for the ANSI/AWWA C105/A21.5 standards. The material is made from 100% virgin high density polyethylene resins that are stretched in machine and transverse directions and laminated with their grain orientation in opposite directions for strength and durability.
As with all protection methods, proper installation is vital to the success of the Polywrap. Care needs to be used when installing this item so it is not damaged.
